Fathers With Babies Study Seeks Participants

Friday Oct 2, 2009

Dr. Will Courtenay, an internationally recognized scholar and researcher in the field of male psychology, is seeking participants for a study designed to shed more light on the social and emotional experiences of fathers with babies and young children. Dr. Courtenay, who is based in California, is conducting this study in collaboration with the Center for Men and Young Men at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Taking part in the study involves doing an online survey that should take 20 - 25 minutes to complete. Fathers will be asked about their experiences as a father, experiences with their spouse or partner, their attitudes on a variety of topics including questions relating to fathers' feelings and behaviors that relate to their moods.

The purpose of this study is to better understand the experiences of dads with babies, as well as the causes and consequences of the joys and challenges these fathers face.

Participation is open to adult men over 18 years of age who have had a baby (or babies) come into their life within the last year. All fathers of babies are invited to participate, including adoptive and gay fathers along with those whose spouses or partners gave birth to their babies.
